Medication Protocols
Integrity EMS of Oklahoma
is able to transport any medication or drip, including blood, with a physician's order. Paramedics may request information if unfamiliar with your particular medication, side effects, contraindications, and reversal agents. Medications not carried in the ambulance should be supplied by the ordering physician or sending hospital, along with any reversal agent. Paramedics request a direct phone number for the ordering physician should any problem arise during the transport.
Other Information You Should Know
Insurance plans may not allow for ambulance services if advanced life support is not medically necessary. Medical necessity must be certified by your physician based upon your medical condition at the time of transfer. Insurance plans may not provide coverage for advanced life support teams if you're able to sit in a chair or ride in an automobile. We encourage you to check with your insurer or agent to determine your policy.
